Yay, you are engaged, how exciting… you are probably floating in the clouds – we are so happy for you too. It empowers you after your engagement, you feel like a stronger woman, and your man feels an incredible release. Everything is so fab… but where do you begin as a new Bride and Groom? Here are 5 tips from Some Like It Classic – Wedding & Event Design www.somelikeitclassic.com to get you going…
1. Enjoy the Moment…
Is this cliche? Not really, you HAVE to enjoy the moment. Allow yourself to experience your engagement and don’t just jump right into what flowers you want, filling your Pinterest account with every wedding image you can find, or setting a date… big no-no!!
2. Get a manicure and your engagement ring sized…
Seriously, everyone wants to look, even your grocery store clerk. Everyone wants to see the bling. If you didn’t anticipate an engagement, and you didn’t setup a manicure appointment already now is your chance. Get your hands looking fab, go get that ring sized… and get the bling extra clean.
3. Call your family…
Not your immediate family, we are sure you already called them, but call your aunts, uncles, and cousins… they may not know yet, and they want to know especially from you. Maybe even plan a trip back home and share the news with them, they would love that!
4. Setup a meeting with the parents…
Alright, you can’t start planning your dream wedding without discussing budget. Even if your parents aren’t contributing, sitting down with them explaining your thoughts will be important. They want to feel apart of your planning process regardless.
5. Hire a wedding planner…
After you discuss budget, maybe considered the time of year you are hoping for… hire a wedding planner. The wedding market is ABSOLUTELY jam packed with all types of vendors of all different styles, price points, and QUALITY. How do you know what venue or vendor is going to have problems or issues until you talk to a professional about them? Don’t make any decisions until you put a phone call into a planner. Most venues require that you have a planner anyway, all venues ONLY have an on-site coordinator that coordinates the venue… but doesn’t coordinate your wedding, so don’t be fooled if you go to a venue and they offer “coordination” it’s not for other vendors, only their venue.
