One of my favorite drinking games growing up was a game called “Kings Cup” or “Kings” for short. It’s a game that everyone over the age of “21″ can play and have a really fun time. Here is what you need…
INGREDIENTS
Deck of Cards
Table
A cooler of Beer next to the table – do an assortment it’s more fun where there are choices and you are entertaining
1 unopened beer for the middle of the table – I prefer this over a empty cup that the players poor into from their own beer… seems germ infested, but to each their own (you will see what I mean shortly)
PREP
Everyone sits at the table, the unopened beer placed in the middle, and the cards scattered around the unopened beer face down.
PLAY
Draw for the player who will go first, you choose, highest card or lowest card wins. From there the players will draw a card in a clockwise format. On each player’s turn, they will draw a card from the pile and flip it over so everyone can see, they will do the action said below, and then the next player will go. Whatever card you have will depict what you do below… NOTE: There are several different ways to play the cards below, you can make your own rules if you wish
Ace – Touch Your Face – every player must touch their face, the last person to touch their face has to sip their beer
Two – Two for You – the person that drew the card can make another player drink two sips of beer
Three – Three for Me – the person that drew the card must drink three sips of their own beer
Four – Four for W*ORES – all the ladies at the table must take a sip of beer
Five – Divide - the person that drew this card can divide 5 sips up amongst the group or give 5 to a particular person
Six – Six for D*CKS – all the gentleman at the table must take a sip of beer
Seven – Never Have I Ever – the person that drew this card says something they have never done, if other players in the group have done it, they have to sip their beer
Eight – Categories – the person that drew this card picks a category like “NFL Teams” or “Type of Trees” or “Cake Flavors” and starts out by saying whatever it is in that category. For instance, if NFL Teams was picked, the player says “Cowboys” then the next player must say a NFL team and so on and so forth, if any of the players repeat a team, take to long to say a team, or just can’t think of one, they must take a sip of beer and the next player goes. You do this until someone messes up.
Nine – Bust a Rhyme – the person that drew this card says something that someone can rhyme with like one word or phrase, the next player must rhyme with that same word or phrase. Same rules apply as categories, if the player repeats, takes too long, or can’t think of something to say, they must take a sip of beer and the next player goes. You do this until someone messes up.
Ten – Waterfall – everybody at the table stands, the player that drew the card starts drinking, and all the players start drinking with the player, the player sitting next (clockwise) to the player that started drinking can not stop drinking their beer until the person before them stops, the person next to that person, can not stop drinking until the person right before them stops, and so on and so forth, in a waterfall type drinking manner. After you stop drinking you sit. The last person in the group will end up drinking the most.
Jack – Social – everyone cheers and takes a sip of beer.
Queen – Question Master – the player that draws this card can now ask anyone a question at any time, the players must remember, they can only answer the question master with a question back. Every time the Question Master stumps a player by answering that question not with a question during the game, that player that was tricked must sip their beer. The player is only question master until the next Queen is drawn.
King – Community – this is where the closed beer can or bottle comes into play. If you draw a king, your king goes on top of the can or bottle. The person to draw the last king must drink the entire beer. Some play with an empty cup and any player that draws a king pours a little of their beer in the cup. The last king that is drawn the player must drink the entire cup of beer… which to me is a little gross. When the 4th king is drawn that is the end of the game.
Kings is a really fun and engaging game. Again, can be played by all ages over “21″. Have fun, surprise your guests with a fun game!! Have an assortment of great imported beers too, it makes it more gourmet!
