I do cardio everyday, but no results…

Do you do cardio 5-6 days a week, 40-60 min. and you aren’t seeing results?

Do you strength train 2 times a week at best, sometimes never?

Do you say, “I don’t want to strength train, bc I will get bulky?”

Do you say, “I want to be lean like a model?”

If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then you are never going to get the physical results you want from your cardio routine. Believe me, I am the exact same way. And if you think models are not genetically gifted, you are probably wrong… not to knock on gorgeous models that workout regularly to stay in shape, but most of the time, these women have killer metabolisms and long lean figures, they were built that way… if you are short with stalky legs, no matter what you do, you will never be 6ft tall and wear Victoria Angel wings at their annual runway show.

But don’t fret, it absolutely doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to be in the best shape of your life… and if you are just pushing cardio you aren’t doing enough.

Strength training is an crucial part of your fitness and it’s almost impossible to attain that killer body without it. There are numerous benefits to strength training, but the one we want to focus on in this article is image. If you want that lean look, you need to build muscle period. Muscle is said to burn as much as 15 times as many calories as fat tissue. That is a huge figure. Just think, all you have to do is sit at your desk, even better sit at a desk on a ball (strengthen your core), type an article, and you are burning calories. I can get into that.

Cardio alone just won’t do it for you. I am 5’8″, and am genetically long and lean, but there is no way I can ever look fit and toned if I don’t incorporate strength training. And rumor has it, you bulk up, please attribute that to the old wives tales… it’s about as factual as “If you make that face long enough Johnny, it will stay like that”. Ladies most of us don’t have bodies where we “bulk”, but if you are bulky already aka a little soft aka have a few pounds to lose, yes, it’s going to take that extra muscle to burn off that softness and see results!!

So case and point – continue your cardio – it’s important, but maybe 3-4 days a week, do only 20-30 min of cardio and spend the rest of your time at the gym working on your muscles. It’s good for you, and good for you image, hell Marilyn Monroe even strength trained :)
